The Interrelationship between Growth and Learning

Learning and growth, without any question, is an umbrella term, so there is no one way to acquire it. This multi-faceted process begins intentionally or unintentionally when one is born. And it keeps changing as per the individual’s need and age but never ceases.

Why to Learn?

Learning is a crucial part of an individual’s growth as it assists one to reach closer to their set aspirations.

The skills that learning entails not only polishes and fuels one’s abilities and interests. It also builds their cognitive, command giving, and taking, interpersonal, responsive, identifying, comprehending, analyzing, fine-motor skills thereby supports the development of physical and mental health. These can enable a person to broaden their understanding to achieve anything ranging from accomplishing a minute task to their desired aims.

The young minds are curious, and possess the ability to retain more information through methods that are captivating such as experiential, observational, imaginative. Thus they can be easily molded to develop ways of learning, in terms of thinking, understanding, speaking, and behaving according to the given situation.

Learning has no age limit

It is essential to remember, it is not mandatory every person will be learning all the above-mentioned skills or skills in general, successfully. There are possibilities of learning skills or things before or beyond one’s age.

Will these learnings be of any use?

Some would learn then forget it fully, others will recall at some point in life, some will have a liking towards learning a skill and others would detest a few, some tend to learn only when the need arrives and some would just have it in them genetically.

There could be few who would be better at something and will not be able to process through other skills. It all varies according to individuals and this has a uniqueness to it. However, this should not be a measure to study any individual and categorize them.  

Learning and growth are vital in every aspect for the progress and betterment of humanity. At every stage of one’s life, be it personally, professionally, socially, culturally, economically, and globally. Schools do inculcate certain important things but there are various imperative matters that are imparted outside of educational-based learning.

Therefore, it is a must, to strike an accurate balance between the two. Inclining towards one over the other will not lead towards a complete model of learning and growth.

People who are part of perpetual learning tend to be happier than those who are not. There could be various results to reason this, most obvious being, learning helps to keep their passion and interests alive. It makes way for innovation and imagination.

When one is being involved at something that keeps motivating them to do better, it is often followed by the feeling of joy. It can be either ephemeral or long-lasting. This leads to experience and maintain peace and happiness for the mental and physical health, especially in their personal life from the mundane.

Development through learning

Learning as a practice is fulfilling, and makes one efficient. It creates zeal to achieve, develop a hobby or skills something that one enjoys doing. Thereby it helps to boost one’s existing potential and makes one feel productive, profitable, adaptable and confident about themselves. Eventually they feel content and witness their growth curve.

Coping with the process

Humans are conditioned in a way that according to the changes in life and situations, they have the ability to understand and act. The change pushes them to think and switch to the skill or source required on the go. The practice of learning to learn and accordingly knowing what, where, how and when to do, all these come with prior knowledge, experience and understanding.

The importance of learning

One realizes that, several things are internalized by self and cannot be taught. Whereas, there are learnings that have to be leveled up, adopted and repudiated. This makes the value of un-learning equally a key factor, all these are also components of learning.

Knowing the need to work on a peculiar learning or developing a liking towards the same are some things that each individual evolves with, over time and scenario. It is this sense of awareness that keeps learning on-going within every living being.
